Homeowner Resources

Everything you need before you build.

Understand the FORTIFIED program, what happens at each inspection, and what your certificate means for your insurance premiums across all nine service states.

The Designations

What FORTIFIED means for your home.

FORTIFIED isn't just a roof job. It's a verified construction standard that proves your home was built or re-roofed to withstand hurricane-force winds. The difference between a code-minimum roof and a FORTIFIED roof is documented, third-party-verified resilience.

Your designation is valid for 5 years. Most Gulf Coast insurers offer premium discounts for FORTIFIED Roof designation alone. Submit your certificate to your carrier immediately to activate those savings.

Terminology note: If your insurer refers to "Bronze," they mean FORTIFIED Roof. IBHS phased out Bronze/Silver/Gold labels — each is a standalone designation, not a mandatory upgrade sequence.

FORTIFIED Roof

Sealed deck, enhanced attachment, verified installation. Most common re-roof path. LDI grant eligible in Louisiana.

FORTIFIED Silver

Adds roof-to-wall load path and impact-rated openings. Builds on the Roof level.

FORTIFIED Gold

Full structural continuity roof to foundation. Highest resilience. New construction only.
