Strengthen Mississippi Homes (SMH)
The Strengthen Mississippi Homes program is administered by the Mississippi Insurance Department and provides grant funding to help qualifying homeowners upgrade their roofs to FORTIFIED standards.

- Income requirements may apply — check MID program guidelines

Strengthen Oklahoma Homes (SOK)
The Strengthen Oklahoma Homes program is administered by the Oklahoma Insurance Department and provides assistance to qualifying homeowners to achieve FORTIFIED Roof designation, with a focus on reducing damage from Oklahoma's significant tornado and severe wind exposure.
HDMK is expanding operations into Oklahoma to serve homeowners pursuing the SOK program. Contact our team to confirm current availability in your area.
- Oklahoma homeowner with an owner-occupied primary residence
- Active homeowners insurance policy required
- Property must be eligible for FORTIFIED Roof designation
- Income or geographic eligibility requirements may apply
- Must use an IBHS-certified evaluator
- Must use a program-approved roofing contractor
HDMK's FORTIFIED Division is actively serving Oklahoma under the SOK program — the same proven process we use across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.
Strengthen Alabama Homes (SAH)
Alabama is the birthplace of the FORTIFIED standard and has the most mature FORTIFIED ecosystem in the country. Coastal Alabama has made FORTIFIED roofs effectively standard for home sales in many markets.
Beyond the grant, Alabama homeowners can also access a $5,000 income tax deduction on state taxes when they achieve a FORTIFIED designation.
- Alabama homeowner with an owner-occupied primary residence
- Active homeowners insurance policy required
- Property must be structurally eligible for FORTIFIED Roof
- Program funding is limited each year — apply early
- Must use an IBHS-certified evaluator
- Must use a program-approved roofing contractor
In addition to the SAH grant, Alabama homeowners who achieve any FORTIFIED designation are eligible for a $5,000 state income tax deduction. This reduces your taxable income — not a direct tax credit, but a meaningful benefit that stacks with insurance premium savings.
Example: On a $65,000 income, the deduction means being taxed on $60,000 instead — resulting in real annual savings beyond insurance discounts.
HDMK is actively completing FORTIFIED evaluations in Alabama. We provide all documentation needed for both the SAH grant application and the Alabama tax deduction.
